Hi, my name is Bushra.
Bushra’s Core Values
How will we fund our campaign promises? NDP Costed Platform
To fund these investments, the NDP would make the ultra-wealthy and big corporations finally pay their share. That means ending fossil fuel subsidies, closing corporate loopholes, and cracking down on tax havens. The plan introduces a 1–3% wealth tax on fortunes over $10 million, a 2% surtax on massive corporate profits, and we’ll stand firm on capital gains reforms the Liberals backed away from.
The NDP’s plan is built to withstand global uncertainty—including the threat of a Trump-led trade war. It includes:
A clear fiscal target: a falling debt-to-GDP ratio by year four, even under pessimistic economic forecasts;
A built-in contingency reserve to respond to external shocks and keep public services stable;
Revenue focused on the ultra-wealthy and corporate profits, not working families; and
Investments with a proven economic return—including housing, infrastructure, and income supports that keep people working and reduce long-term costs.
“We’re not going to cut public services to balance the books on the backs of working people—we’re going to make multi-millionaires, and big corporations finally pay their share,” Jagmeet Singh.

"Candidates like Bushra, who are rooted in their communities, who mainly work outside of the electoral politics, who are not career politicians, can pull the NDP further to the left. This takes away power from the career politicians who continue to pull the party right, towards more liberal platforms. Bushra also aims to engage the communities in the suburbs through her campaign into grassroots groups and movements- communities who are largely racialized and are not served by the politicians that "represent" them."

"Climate Justice Toronto (CJTO) is excited to endorse Busha Asghar’s campaign for MP in Mississauga Streetsville. Bushra has a long history of fighting for climate justice, good green jobs, and a free Palestine, including as a member of CJTO. "Bushra knows that our best policy ideas require collaboration, perseverance and an ability to organize. She embodies the kind of politician we need in Ottawa to bring good ideas to life. And alongside all of this, she remained deeply committed to the grassroots community organizing closest to her heart -- the kind of community work that every policymaker should be rooted in. In this moment of immense shock, fear and uncertainty, we need bold and fresh ideas like the Youth Climate Corps to counter the stale austerity that our leaders often resort to. And we need strong leaders full of courage, heart and deep policy knowledge. "
